Sylvia Badwi is an African native who was born and raised in the middle east. She immigrated to Canada in 1989 when she was very young. Her passion for differentiated learning began at the age of 16 when she volunteered in a daycare and encountered children who were autistic. She fell in love with those learners and worked an entire summer in a childcare in Nunavut, Canada with children who had FAS and FAE as well as down syndrome and plethora of other learning challenges. In the 2000s, she owned and operated two supplemental learning franchises focusing on children who are atypical to avoid falling through the cracks. She completed her specialized honors in Psychology with an emphasis on children and teens as well as a specialized Bachelor of Education from York University. Her passion solidified when she became a mother of three children and had to endure the Covid pandemic with all the shutdowns. She saw how much her own children were affected and she decided to complete a Harvard program called Leaders of Learning. She decided to start her own learning environment THEN AND THERE. Her learning institution is called Agora Prep Academy and it was established in 2021. She has witnessed countless miracles in her approach and decided to build this nonprofit organization to expand globally and allow access to this individualized and customized approach of learning to all differentiated students world-wide. This is her dream - to ensure that every child, no matter their gift or exceptionality or superpower, can excel in this world as they fulfill their very important and beautiful life purpose.
